IMHO 3040 lbs is WAY more than a bit (over) heavy. Just camped with a buddy who has a 2016 f-250 CC short bed diesel. We looked at his door sticker and it said payload was at 2075 lbs or so. So if you have, say 4 people in the truck at 150 lbs each and a 200 lb hitch, that leaves 1275 lbs for pin weight. No were near enough to tow much of a fifth wheel over say, 8000 lbs.
