We went to Lowes and ordered Bali mini-blinds to replace the sunshades. Sunshades are either "on" or "off". Mini-blinds are adjustable. We got the 1/2" slats and, when installed, they look outstanding and MUCH easier to use than those sunshades. We used plastic wall anchors, toggle bolts, nylon toggles, and cabinet screws to install them - depending on what we found around the window. Quite a job, but worth it.
