Not too far from us in Coos Bay is a truly unique adventure. What is it you ask? Here is a synopsis:

Follow in the foot steps of history!

Jet boat the ‘Historic Mail Boat route’ just as Rogue River pioneers have done since 1895, when road access did not exist. We are one of the few remaining Mail Boats in the nation, and still deliver the mail to Agness, 32 miles upriver, on a daily basis.

Take in the natural surroundings as this 80 trip includes the scenic and historic mail route PLUS numerous white water experiences.

Occasional stops along the way will allow for picturesque photo opportunities, wildlife viewing and unscripted narration weaving tales of history, facts and tall tales from growing up on the Rogue River.

Are you interested? Great as we have scheduled a group trip on Monday June 24th for the 80 mile trip. The specifics are:

Boat departs at 12:00 for an ~4.5 hour trip.

The departure dock is located at 29985 Harbor Way, Gold Beach, Oregon 97444, approximately an 80 miles south of Coos Bay.

The group rate cost will be $63 per person.

If you want to go, or think you will, please post here with the name of the participants. You have until Friday of the rally, June 21st to signup/commit. I will collect the monies (cash or check) up to Friday when I have to provide the company with a final count.

Trivia and Miscellaneous Factoids

Boarding begins 10 minutes prior to departure, so please check-in a minimum of 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

We should plan on carpooling as much as possible.

SEATING –There is no reserved seating
, so if you would like a specific seat, be early and ready at the top of our loading ramp when we begin the boarding process. The boats have bench seating with padding on both the bottom and back of the seat. For a smoother ride, we recommend the back rows. The front of the boat can be rough at times and we do not recommend for those with bad backs, neck problems, or other medical conditions.

Dress in layers! It can be cool and windy on the coast when we take off and then up to 20-30 degrees warmer inland. It is always better to be over prepared with multiple layers, so don’t be afraid to overdo it! Sunglasses, sunscreen, water, snacks, and hats are all good accessories to bring along. A small backpack or stuff sack is a great way to keep everything organized and together. Leave expensive electronics at home. The vendor is not responsible for damage to any electronic equipment you bring including cell phones, hearing aids, electronic ignition keys, etc.

You can bring coolers, for food and/or drink, on board as long as they are the soft sided personal ones that can fit in the rows with passengers.

6/19/2019 Update - There will a 1 hour stop for lunch around 2:30 (cost not included in trip price). We will be stopping at Singing Springs Ranch which offers have BBQ, sandwiches, burgers, salads and soups.. Here is a link to their menu CLICKY. They offer a "group" lunch of either the "Soup, Salad, and Sweets Bar" or the "Smoke House Bar" (which includes the "Soup, Salad, and Sweets Bar". Alternatively you can order off their regular Menu. Of course you can bring your own lunch. You are under no obligation to buy lunch during the stop.

The restaurant wishes to have an idea if how many will be buying lunch and if so, want either of the "Group Bar" selections. Please be prepared to give me your lunch intentions when you pay for the trip by Friday. That way we can give them a planning estimate for Monday.

PET BOARDING – Jerry’s does not have pet facilities, but we do recommend contacting one of the companies below. (Arrangements need to be made prior to your arrival)
Emilie’s Pet & House Sitting: 541-247-2639
Box L Kennels: 541-247-2639
