I vote for the curvy one with white marble chips. The green metal edging is cheaper and very "curvable". I bet you can get all the "paddle cactus" you want for free!! People will be glad to let you take whatever you want to dig up. Irises are something else folks may let you dig up for the "dividing". Cannas are very tropical looking also - they could provide you with some privacy. Stepping stones and malibu lights are a nice touch, also.
