Also, just for reference, this is a "February 2006" build date. I know you have one of these, too, Rich.

Just hard to believe that a glass bowl, with a 2" base, on the revolving glass, only half full of scalped potatoes, could have cause such a catastropic failure of this appliance (after only 6 min of cook time) just because it couldn't circulate air under that 2" base.

Seems to me that the same failure would have happened with this particular unit if you would have simply turned it on w/o the food and tray. If one did this, they should surely not expect any such disasterous results, I would think...
