We have the system on our new 2016 rig, I have only used it twice, once at the dealer, and once where I store it. 30 seconds my rig is level, I love it.
Only down side, the auto retract feature to bring it back to where I unhooked the truck doesn't seem to work, and I have been told it doesn't work well anyway. Not sure why, or if I was doing something wrong, but I followed the instructions on the label and it didn't work.
As for pads, I use them on dirt/gravel. usually don't use them on nice level concrete pads. I have the orange plastic ones. Easier to clean and lighter than wood blocks.
As for leveling off the ground, I was explained that this system is just like the ones in the motor home, and may lift the tires off the ground, ands that's OK
