I always use pads under the level up. Just habit from my previous TT. Probably not necessary, but I have never had an out of stroke error. My wife and I look at the site, how the rig is sitting and agree on a decision of how many pads for each of the three pairs. On the soft Florida soils even with gravel we usually do a spread pad of two of the waffle pads next to each other and then height added bridging the base. Yes, they are sometimes squished into the dirt/stones, but I have always been nice and level. No pops yet, but plenty of issues with the control pad.
