Shower Head Noise

The shower head/flexible hose in my shower has been squealing and whistling when the cold water flow is added to the hot output. It can be adjusted and will sometimes go away, but it usually remains. I took the "Y" connector off the water pressure reducer at the outside spigot and that has just about eliminated the squeal. Anyone else experiencing this problem. I plan to get a new water pressure reducer today since the brass one I have is three years old, but I think it is just the vibration caused when hot and cold water pressures are varied in the shower flexible hose and head. Any thoughts?
