There has to be insulation between the aluminum and steel or you get galvanic reaction. AL being the loser. The issue they are having with their rims is the seal that separates the 2 doesn't always keep the 2 from touching. Sealing surface of rim gets pitted and rim has to be replaced.

Aftermarket add ons to the AL bodied trucks even as mundane as mudflaps require Al washers and tabs at the contact points of AL body
