Another vote for Mesa, AZ. 20-25 minutes to #5 airport in the country (PHX). The above post stating FL is warmer must have been talking about Tucson. I think it is 1500-1800 ft higher elevation than Mesa, so quite a bit cooler. Dozens of parks along main street and University.

Other parts of AZ like mentioned above would be quieter out in the country or small town areas. A lot of things to do here - Organ stop pizza with something like 200 instruments attached to the organ. Botanical gardens. Large zoo. Hiking/biking trails along canals - some even with crosswalk lights across the streets!!
Just checked average temps for Mesa/Tampa. Jan 12, Mesa is 67/45 and Tampa is 70/51. Monthly rainfall - Mesa .03 inches and Tampa .13. So a little warmer in FL. HOWEVER, AZ has 320 days of sunshine a year and FL has 246. I like the clear blue skies.
