I have not been thru Fort Worth since April but I always experience a few delays heading south, generally starting at Alliance Parkway (Hwy 170) all the way to IH30 downtown but it simply moves slowly. I have never seen it as a parking lot creeping along at 2 mph. Even with the slow moving traffic for 15 miles or so I never took 820 around Fort Worth. By the time you get to 820 you are halfway thru the construction and slow traffic...so might as well continue south on IH35...only a few more miles to go. It’s clear sailing once you pass downtown.
