If they fixed the step drag issue on the newer models they would have had to change the rise of the steps.
On the 2955rl with the steps located behind the wheels there is a world of difference in ground clearance compared to the other models with mid entry doors which places the steps in front of the wheels. I cannot count the number of times I drug the 2955rl steps going into steep drives at stations. I bent them out of shape more than once.
I have not had any issues with the 3150 dragging the steps.
