It is nice that most extoll the virtues of a dually: Me, you couldn't run fast enough to give me one.

If I needed a one ton, it would be SRW. Dodge 3500 SRW is rated to tow 15900 with 4.10 rear end, and if stability was a problem, load range "F" tires.
