I am the owner of a small trucking company. The present problem is not needing more trucks. We need more drivers. I noticed on an OOIDA radio broadcast recently that do to excessive government regulations, etc., the average span of employment for a new truck driver is only abut 2 years before the driver quits. Excessive regulations, including the new ELD requirement, continually add costs and create more problems for the industry, companies, shippers and drivers. The shortage of drivers is resulting in some trucking companies offering sign-on bonuses of up to $5,000 for new hires, along with higher pay for drivers to stay more than a year.

If you have it, a truck hauled it. A truck has to deliver it before you can buy it.
