If you are using Windows, rightclick on a blank spot on the desktop, choose Properties. On the Settings tab make sure the Color Quality setting is at 24-bit or higher. It might say 16 million (or higher).

This affects all pictures, not just websites. If your problem is only on websites and the above setting is ok, post back and one of us will try to help. In that case tell us if you are using a Mac, windows xp, or other operating system. And whether your browser is Internet Explorer, Firefox, or something else.
