The Blueridge Parkway is the exact opposite of I81. 81 is hustle and bustle down the valleys. The Parkway is slow easy drive on the crest of the Blueridge Mountains. It is said to be one of the 10 prettiest roads in the US. I couldn’t argue with that. It is the prettiest road I’ve ever been on. You can get on it several places of of I80 north of Roanoke and off at Roanoke. It an easy back on I81 at Roanoke or continue on to I77 at Fancy Gap.
The Parkway is a part of the National Park System a National Park. It tells the history of the people of the Blueridge Mountains. There are numerous overlooks and artifacts and homes of the first settlers of the mountains.
