I used Brackets/hooks similar to what Dave W used except my bracket/hooks were square and I flattened the end with the cap on it and drilled holes in it where I flattened it. I then mounted it to the floor joist/ceiling supports in the basement with self-tapping screws and slid a piece of plywood across the six brackets/hooks and added short bolts to the plywood/brackets with locknuts and washers on them. I store our chairs in this shelf and also several other items like the flagpole and other such items. I've taken the bracket/hooks and attached them to the carpeted walls of the basement to hang hoses and other items with nothing falling off while traveling. I used self-tapping screws to mount these also but was careful not to puncture anything on the other side of the wall.
