Actually the smoke detector, if like mine, is run by a 9 volt battery and is not wired to the 12V system but the gas detector is run off the 12V battery as is the flashlight charger. As well as the clock in the Microwave.
If it is not hook up to electric, always disconnect the battery when storing the rig for any period of time.
