I would say you are screwed. I live in between Sac and OC. You are right about life in CA. Living anywhere decent is overpriced. Living in the central valley is unhealthy and overrun with those that are paid not to work. Social security is not taxed but is made up for in other ways. My 5 year old 2014 Ram dmv renewal is $679 plus smog checks. The monty is $524. Fuel is notoriously high and we are not told where the taxes on it goes. There's more but... And don't even talk about the politics here.

We are looking for a way out of here. AZ and NV are on the short list. I would still like to rv the sierras and coast and see kids on occasion.
