This is what we have done the last 3 years and it works really well. I also have mounted a 3 step filter in our basement to keep from freezing for all water coming into the Monty, a sediment and then a charcoal. The third filter is open now but I can add a "special filter depending on the area we are camped, for anything that may be unique to that area such as iron etc. This seems to have worked well in keeping the water clean in all areas of the unit. The only thing that I have to do is disconnect the water hose if it going to freeze over night. I use quick disconnects on the hose to make it easy. I also keep some water in the tank for use until I reconnect the hose.
