Captain Joe,
As the poster of a topic item you can delete the item ONLY as long as no other member has made a reply. Once a reply is made you can only EDIT your post. I'm sure you can see the reasoning behind this policy. As you can see even the ability to EDIT the post now makes the reply meaningless.
