The caps are not really that much higher then the orginal caps.Maybe a 1/4 of a inch(i`am guessing)I`am fairly sure since you have made your own cover it would probably fit.They do have pictures in Camping World.Also Cabela`s sells the same system for about the same price.I myself haven`t noticed any fumes coming up into the bed room area.That front storage compartment in mine any way is pretty well ventilated.
