I too in B.C.,needed an endorsement when I got my rig, 2007. Did not need 'A' class.

Entailed a written exam and a driving test. Not hard.

I had it explained to me this way. Police will not likely check you for the proper endorsement. Too much to do. UNLESS you do something stupid or somehow you are brought to their attention such as a collision or speeding.

Find out what your jurisdiction requires or you could get a nasty surprise especially if the problem occurs in some other jurisdiction.
