My questions are, why do the lines go up into the bathroom and then back down to the tank? If I have access to the pipes underneath can I shorten the pipes to connect them down there? If I decide to eliminate the black piece and use a back flow preventer at the water inlet what are the connectors I use to connect the two white lines together? Thanks I look forward to input.
Thanks for the information, I was successfully able to eliminate the black plastic vacuum breaker on the water lines under the bathroom sink and connect them in the basement with the 90 deg shark bite connectors and am using a brass vacuum breaker at the inlet. Definitely lots of knowledge on this site.
