On my old truck the original trans finally gave up. I had it rebuilt by a guy that built trans for race trucks. He beefed it up and put synthetic oil in. I also had a larger oil pan put on(3 more quarts of oil) the pan had small tubes that ran through the pan front to back, so the air could flow through, that and with a Tru Cool heavy duty trans cooler the trans temp ran way lower
