Thanks for the input. Thought about that possibility. So I covered the vent cover with a plastic bag and taped close to seal out any water from the cover. During the next rain observed no leaking. Took the plastic off the cover. Next rain the exhaust fan started leaking again. My assessment it has to be coming somewhere around the cover. Inspected around the cover found no cracks. The chalking around the cover base and roof is solid. No openings, cracks or open seems..
