Bob,
You should have a minimum of 6" between the rig and the body of the truck. There should be a little white line on the driver's side of the hitch that you use as a guide for how much air to carry in the airbags. The line should be about 1/2" above the frame of the hitch. I carry a little more in mine because my pin weight is heavier than normal since I have larger batteries in the front end of the rig. Use enough air to get the minimum clearance and then add a little more if you feel more comfortable. I air mine up to 50 psi.
