When I was a kid and in the service and didn't know any better, we made it from Boston to Chicago (~1000 miles), in a Volkswagen. Sharon had to pry my fingers from the steering wheel.
Now that I'm a lot older, and still don't know any better, we were on our way home from Calgary (~1300 miles) a few years ago. We didn't have any stops planned, Sharon was sleeping in her air ride seat, and there wasn't much to dispell the lure of the barn. We made that trip in two days. Of course, the cab of the truck is about the size of that Volkswagen of years ago. It seemed like we chased the sunset for hours.
