We have plastic trunks from Wally World. Each has wheels under one end for easy sliding in and out. The lids are hinged and have metal latches to keep them closed. The lids are notched so that they can be stacked without sliding around. We have eight in our basement, with plenty of room for other things such as lawn chairs, lawn rug and the DirecTV dish and tripod. Each trunk is numbered and we keep a list of the contents of each for easy reference.
