The opening behind the panel is 4 1/4"H x 32 3/4"W and in the compartment itself, from the carpet to the bottom to the plywood under the fridge is 7 1/4" tall. I'm sure you could get away with making the piece that holds the neck of the bottles as little as 3" in height. As long as you can get a bottle of wine through the opening, it should work
