The last three numbers being square footage may sometimes be the case but it's not a hard and fast rule. It can't be. The largest an RV can be is 400 square feet. 401 is a Mobile Home and subject to totally different construction standards. My understanding is the model number is just a number, as others said above. But I do not know that for sure. I do know the 3400RL and 3500RL both are 400 square feet, according a a Keystone executive.
