I also have a 2014 Montana with a bedroom slide that is cable operated. I look at the cables all of the time to see if they have too much excess slack. In 2 years of ownership do not see any change. It is a good idea to wipe down the cables, I use a towel and spray a little WD40 on it and it cleans and lubricates the cable at the same time. Does not take much WD40, you do not want to much on there because dirt will stick to the cable.
