We visited the area in Oct 2017 after the national rally. We stayed at the Wellesley Island State Park and loved it. Of course, the crowds in June will be larger than in October when there were only 3 rigs in the entire campground. There is a real nice RV Resort in Alexandria, but it is about three times the cost of Wellesley Island State Park; not that nice.

We took the Uncle Sam boat tour; it was great. Get a tour that stops at the Singer and Boldt castles. The Small Boat Museum is worth a visit and we also took a drive on the Canadian side to see some locks. In October, the place was almost shut down for winter and we only had two or three days. We loved the area and would like to go back.
