I use the OEM gate because I have a hard roll type locking tonneau cover. After unhooking I typically pull the cover closed to hide whatever I may have in the bed. When towing I can also pull the cover back near the hitch to hide stuff I may be carrying in front of the hitch. Locks every 6".
When not towing it stays closed and locked as I carry a small tool chest in the bed.
