I used this guys mod on putting struts on the front bay door a couple of years ago.
I used the galvanized pre-punched Tie Plates, glued and attached with 1/2 inch hex screws and the 30 lb struts as he suggested. However I used 1/2 Stainless steel screws to attach the struts. Also I used his measurements on the door for attaching the plate and strut. Still working great.
