The 6.0 did indeed get a very bad reputation. And there are those that claim everyone of them will fail and cost you big money. But in fact, no one can actually tell you what percentage of those engines have actually failed. But even one in ten failing would be a very large number and get the bad press it gets. But that would mean nine in ten would be good. Most of those claiming disaster with the 6.0 will admit to have never owned one themselves. And typically because they own a different brand.


I did own two 6.0s, 2004 F250 and 2007 F350. Only issue was a cam sensor fail on the 2007 replaced under warranty. But I only had about 60,000 miles when I traded for the 2012 6.7 F350. Not because of any issues. Only because I made the mistake of walking thru the new truck lot when in for an oil change.
