Leaking cooling units can happen for a lot of reasons. Strong ammonia smell and yellow residue at the back of the fridge is your warning to power down. Temp control of a leaking fridge should be really erratic and a warning something not right. I keep a temperature sender in my fridge all the time so that I can glance at the base unit readout to track what is going on. MY fridge, since I corrected install errors tracks extremely well. Have it set to maintain 38f now and it has been there for more than two weeks without change. John
