I think it comes down to personal choice. Some of us, like us, want the additional storage area in the front compartment and have built a tray on the rear of our 5er to hold our Honda generators. We don't need, nor want, to have a large Onan sucking up propane when not really needed. Of course, others have differing opinions which makes this forum great!
