GARMIN NUVI 500 AND MAPQUEST

Do any of you use the custom route function in MapQuest and if so have you been able to upload any of your custom routes to your Garmin device over the past couple of days or so? I have been trying to send a custom route to my Nuvi 500 for a couple of days now and MapQuest keeps giving me a "Garmin device NOT detected" message. I have attempted this on 3 separate computers and all have received the same message. If I uninstall the GARMIN Communicator Plug-in, MapQuest detects that the Communicator Plug-in is not installed, but when I reinstall the Communicator Plug-in I receive the same "Garmin device NOT detected" notification from MapQuest. I have cleared my cache, reinstalled the Communicator Plug-in several times and disabled my virus protection and still no luck. The last time I downloaded a custom route from MapQuest successfully was 6 November 2009. I have the latest version of GARMIN Communicator Plug-in installed and when I run the test page on the Garmin website it detects my device fine. I did download a map update from the GARMIN website yesterday and that worked fine. I am just trying to determine if there is a problem with my GPS or if it is MapQuest. MapQuest has not responded to my inquires so I am turning to the MOC for assistance. Thanks in advance.
Jack
