I would say if you are a weekend camper and camp locally somewhere then don't bother with the added cost. If you are a fulltimer, and I mean travelling fulltime, not just a northern location to a summer location. then you would really benefit from the unit. If you long time 6 months or so, then a costly decision, but one I would make. I travelled 2 years without it and once I had it installed I was so grateful for the better ride. I think it helped with the resale value also, except for a trade in. Bottom line: You must evaluate your camping needs before you purchase ANY extra. For example, if you only camp in parks with a bar b que grill, why buy one? If you never go to places with water why buy float devices?

I also feel the IS adds to the longevity of your rig and suspension.
