I made a cable extension that goes to the drivers side cargo tie down in the bed. The cable goes over the top of the hitch handle.
The slack caught several time and pulled the pin but luckily never in any dangerous place.
I got two long light screen door springs and used those to keep the slack up and out of the way using Tyraps to hold the spring and cable together.
