All dogs are different. Our Goldens have tended to be slugs. They can sleep the hours away during the day even though they have slept all night. So several hours away is no problem for us. Smaller dogs tend to be more hyper and may not do as well for as long. But the only way to know for sure is to leave the dogs alone for a while but visit the trailer from the outside to see if you hear them barking. And come back later to see if anything has been "displaced" inside the trailer. A number of times we have had neighbors who leave to sight see and they no more than pull out of the site than their dog(s) start barking. And bark until they return. A good brisk walk to tire them out before leaving can help.
