Last year, while driving I-40, we happened to stop for breakfast in Seligman, AZ...about 80-90 miles W of Flagstaff. Seligman is about 3-4 miles north of I-40 and is on the original Hwy 66. One of the more memorable stops we encountered that year...There is a really good breakfast restaurant, "Westside Lilo's" just down the street and on the opposite side from (the original?) Road Kill Café. Really great Hwy 66 memorabilia through out the small town.

Seligman got us so interested in the old highway's history that we we elected to take Hwy 66 instead of I-40 to Kingman. We really enjoyed that part of the trip. 66 parallels I-40 most of the way. Good road, although two lanes only for most of it. You might want to give it a try and,at least, see Seligman.

Best,
