If it were me, in your situation I'd pull into the rest area, select a site near one end or as quiet as possible and open it up and do my thing. If the site is pretty narrow and you don't want to open slides on both sides, then lock out all but the main slide and sit on the couch or chair, whichever you have in that slide. If you have a generator and want to watch tv, put up the antenna. You can see the tv without putting out the entertainment slide and you can control it with the remote. Or, if room, just open all the slides.

If you open slides be sure the rig is pretty close to level. You sure don't want to damage the slide mechanisms by the shifting of weight because the rig is way off level.

Good luck with your trip. We also try to keep our days under 300 miles, preferring 200 to 250 or even less when we can. Start late, stop early, take lots of breaks, in other words!
