There are a lot of variables in any model of truck in its current year, and many more in the same truck over multiple years. In other words, what is true of a particular truck this year may not be true of last year's model. The point is, word of mouth is not good enough...you need to see the numbers written on the truck's certification stickers. You would be better off ensuring the truck you buy actually has the capacity (can it carry the pin weight...3400 is listed at about 2100 lbs, but when you get loaded for a trip, most folks are saying that number is closer to 2800!; and can it pull and stop the overall weight of the trailer?) to haul your fifth wheel of choice. There was a "letter to the editor" in Trailer Life mag a year or so ago from some poor guy who bought what he thought was the right truck (Chevy 3500 DRW) for the job; however, it was not spec'd out with full tow package...result, the engine was overworked and kept overheating!!!! Do yourself a favor, determine what capacity you need and then make the dealership show you the truck's numbers in written form. Good luck in your search for the perfect set up.
