I'm new to all this and looking at this new monster in my driveway, I've been somewhat anal about planning the first 200+ mile trip. Used Mapquest to give me the first looksee. Then used Google Earth to spy on the routes. Used TxDot for more research. Found a big stretch of FM908 under construction. Used latest Truckers Atlas to check more stuff. Might consider getting the RV 660LMT but after reading some reviews, maybe not. These things are soo BIG!
My NUVI works great and I've fetched a couple of phone and IPad apps to let my co-pilot keep an eye on things.
