We made a skylight blocker using a lined drapery material measured to fit beyond the outside dimensions of the skylight, sewed a rod pocket on each side and threaded it through screen door springs pulled taut and screwed into the ceiling. It would work better with snaps on the ends instead of the springs. It would be easier to open and close. Otherwise it completely blocks the light and provides some heat/cold insulation as well.
