Also true if you have small children along and they want to go to one of the character meals, of which there are a number of them.
About 10-11 months in advance of one trip we were only able to get seats at the last dinner seating of the night at Cinderella’s Castle. We were still there during the fireworks show! We managed to get one other princess lunch (3 princesses present) and one breakfast with traditional Disney characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc). Grandkids were at that magic age range (3-8) when it was something truly special for them.
Another trip on shorter notice (5 months) we were not able to get any of the character meals. But the kids were a little older and that was less important than the rides.
