3 checks you can make.
1- if you have 115 volts across both screws of the element the circuit is fine. If not it's either the breaker, switch or the thermostat.
2- if the voltage is fine take an amp meter and check the current. If it's about 12.5 amps the element is working ok. If no amperage the element is burned out. If the element is burned out it may be cheaper for someone to mail you a new one Than drive 75 miles.
3- If you don't have an amp meter you can use an ohm meter. With the power off disconnect one wire from the element and check the reading across both screws, it should be about 9 ohms. If not the element is bad.
