I use the straps because someone must know something better than I and I don't want to ever need to know why they were ever needed. Just a little bit of extra time to setup or breakdown, but in the setup and breakdown of things it's so little time that is needed compared to the other billions of things I do, I just don't worry about leaving it out of the procedure. I also think like Chipf2.
FYI, I did lose the desk chair included in my floorplan because I did not strap it down (It worked itself into the path of the slideout and it got destroyed when I brought the slides out.) Since I've never had the need to use the desk as a desk. Anyone sitting there would block the view of the television when others sat in the recliner next to the desk, so we haven't bothered to replace it. We use the void for the pet's stuff.
